Cold heading is a metal forming process characterized by little to no material waste. It utilizes the plastic deformation of metal under external force-facilitated by dies-to redistribute and shift the metal's volume, thereby shaping it into the desired parts or blanks. This process is ideally suited for manufacturing standard fasteners such as bolts, screws, nuts, rivets, and pins.
Specialized cold heading machines are the standard equipment for this process; however, for smaller production volumes, crank presses or friction presses can serve as alternatives. Driven by my country's rapid economic growth, multi-station automatic cold heading machines independently designed and manufactured by Chinese workers have achieved an advanced level of specialization and high efficiency.
