1. Cold heading is performed at room temperature. This process enhances the mechanical properties of metal parts.

2. The cold heading process improves material utilization. Taking cold-headed bolts as an example, the new "recessed" hex-head bolt design achieves a material utilization rate of over 99%; aside from minor losses at the ends of the raw material stock, the process is virtually chipless. In contrast, machining methods yield a material utilization rate of only 40%. Similarly, cold-headed nuts achieve a utilization rate of around 80%, whereas machined nuts reach only 54%.

3. Cold heading significantly boosts productivity. For instance, producing nuts via cold heading increases productivity by approximately 25 to 30 times compared to traditional machining methods.

4. The use of multi-station cold heading machines allows multiple processing steps to be performed simultaneously on a single machine. This reduces equipment investment and the floor space required for machinery, minimizes the transport of semi-finished parts between stages, and-importantly-reduces labor intensity while improving working conditions.

5. Cold heading enhances surface finish and ensures dimensional accuracy. Surface finish typically reaches the V5 grade, with V6 achievable for special requirements. High precision is consistently guaranteed for mass-produced items such as bolts and nuts.

Due to its high productivity, superior product quality, significant reduction in material waste and production costs, and improved working conditions, the cold heading process is increasingly adopted in mechanical manufacturing-particularly in the production of standard fasteners. Bolts, screws, and nuts are the most representative products manufactured using multi-station cold heading machines.
